The company logo started off with a picture of Issac Newton under an apple tree with an apple dangling above his head.  This logo was wrapped around with a banner that read Apple Computer Co.  This logo was deemed to complicated by Steve Jobs and therefore turned to Rob Janoff of the Regis McKenna Agency to design was what their iconic logo of an apple with the bite out of it in its rainbow colors.  This logo was used by apple from 1976 to 1999.  The bite out of the Apple was rumored to be a nod to Alan Turning who was the father of modern computer who committed suicide by biting into a cyanide laced apple.  However the bite was to be a play on byte vs bite. 

After 1999, Apple decided to use the logo today which is the same shape of their original logo however they chose to use a solid color instead of the rainbow logo they used for 25 years.  They decided to use a more modern logo by using monochrome logo.  This has been a trend with many tech companies as they redesign their logos to give a more modern look to their logos.  You can see this modernization with companies such as Microsoft, IBM, HP, Canon etc.

How a Pouch Laminator Works

Types of Pouches for your Laminator

Photographs and other images can be damaged at high temperatures and should be protected with cold lamination or low melt.

Barcode pouches have an opaque covering that prevents bar codes from being copied. These are available in a variety of sizes.

Security coating is used with photographs in developing. The laminate is completely bonded with the image and can’t be removed without destroying the photograph.

Magnetic stripe pouches store information in magnetic codes which can be decoded by a stripe reader. These are commonly used by businesses for swipe cards in access control systems.

Pre Punched pouches have holes already punched in them. This allows you to put the finished documents in a binder without having to punch your own holes. A variety of hole arrangements are available to fit just about any binder.

Buying a Good Laminator

Consider the documents you will be laminating. Make sure the size of the machine is sufficient for the documents you need to protect.

Be sure the machine you choose is suitable for the work you will do. If you will be laminating a lot of pictures, you may not want a hot laminator. Another option is to choose a machine that will work with all laminates on the market. These tend to be more expensive, but are more versatile.

Consider how many documents you will laminate in a day. Pouch machines are best for laminating up to 50 pages each day. If you will be doing much more than this, consider a larger machine.

The Compaq Presario CQ60-615DX doesn’t look or feel like a low-end laptop. It has an overall polished look with a glossy lid with a simple Q logo in its middle, a matte black screen bezel, and a silver wrist rest. The Compaq Presario CQ60-615DX is based on the single-core Intel Celeron 900 processor clocked at 2.2GHz. That speed helped it outpace the Acer Aspire AS5532-5535, which uses a single-core AMD Athlon 64 QL-62 processor clocked at 1.6GHz. Also in the Celeron’s favor is its 1MB of L2 cache; the Athlon 64 QL-62 has only 512KB. The Acer Aspire does feature 3GB of DDR2 memory to the Presario’s 2GB, but the extra gigabyte of memory didn’t help the Acer’s cause in our tests.
